Bareilly: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour, who also set her on fire after the crime at Khemunagla village in Faridpur area here, police said.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon when the girl was alone in her home.

According to police, victim's neighbour, Kantu, not only raped her but also set her on fire.

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical aid by others.

Victim's condition is said to be very critical, police added.

Superintendent of Police (rural), Brijesh Srivastava, said that an FIR has been registered in the matter and the accused is being searched by the police.
