Bangalore: A prominent doctor of Bangalore fell into a honey trap laid by a gang of blackmailers and paid Rs 20 lakhs before reporting the matter to police.

Bangalore police have arrested five persons including the woman who trapped the doctor.

K. S. Sharadchandra, joint commissioner of Bangalore City Police, said, the woman, Sumaiya, alongwith her husband Anees Ahmed and three other friends planned to make quick bucks by entrapping the doctor.

According to the doctor, the woman went to the doctor's clinic three months ago and developed a close relationship. On Nov 16, Sumaiya invited the doctor to lunch at her residence. When the doctor reached there, the woman offered sexual favour, to which the doctor reportedly agreed.

Meanwhile, the woman's husband alongwith his three friends reached the scene, and forced the doctor to shed his clothes. The husband and his three friends recorded the doctor's video and then started a chain of blackmail demands.

The doctor first paid Rs 5 lakhs and later Rs 15 lakhs to Anees. The plan could have been successful were it not for Anees' friends who demanded more money. They rang up the victim directly and demanding more money, after which the doctor informed the police, said Sharadchandra.

Police laid a trap and arrested the three friends first. Later Anees and his wife Sumaiya were arrested. So far, Rs 15 lakh cash, a car, a motorbike and a laptop have been seized.
