New Delhi: Crime can happen anytime. Nobody can predict it. One must just be careful about our surroundings but, what if one's known person wants to kill us. Same thing happened with late PM Indira Gandhi. She was killed by her guards whom she had known for a long time.

Indira Gandhi was the 4th Prime Minister of India. She was assassinated by her bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh (whom she had faith upon) at 9:20 AM on 31 October 1984, at her Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, residence.

It happened in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star, the Indian army's June 1984 assault that took place on the Golden Temple in Amritsar leaving the Sikh temple heavily damaged.

Operation Blue Star had left a deep mark in the thinking of Beant Singh and Satwant Singh.  Beant Singh and Satwant Singh, both were eminent part of the Indian elite forces. They served as bodyguards for the then Prime-minister and they even had taken Sikh Baptism (Amrit) at a Gurdwara in Delhi, on 24 October 1984.

Satwant Singh used to work in the late night shifts and Beant Singh use to work in the early morning shifts in the security of the then Prime Minister.

To take the crime to the desired result Satwant Singh faked of having stomach ache and thus swapped his late night shift with another guard. It was their plan to work together as Beant Singh was in morning shift.
