Ahmedabad: Controversial self-styled godman Asaram Bapu used to organise tug of war between two groups of girls and chose the girls who won for "anusthan", says his former sadhak Rahul Sachan.

Ahmedabad Police has recorded statements of Rahul Sachan who had been a sadhak for several years at Asaram's ashram in Motera

Police sources said that Sachan disclosed how Asaram used to choose girls for sexual exploitation at his ashram.

"Bapu used to organise tug of war to choose girls. Two teams of girls- one of slim and the other of voluptuous and physically strong girls used to tug on," he said.

"Certainly, the strong girls used to win the contest. The winners were called upon to meet Asaram and perform anushthan, where they were brainwashed by other saadhikas," he added.

Sachan alleged that the spiritual leader also knew how to induce hypnosis.

"After inviting girls for anushthan, the girls were sexually exploited by him," he told police.
