Bareilly: Trouble mounts for self-styled godman Asaram, as brother of the minor girl, who was allegedly raped by Asaram last year, has claimed of receiving threat from two of the self-styled godman's followers for settlement in the case failing which they would be killed.

The brother lodged an FIR against the two men who allegedly entered his shop in Shahjahanpur district on Saturday afternoon and reportedly issued the threat. The duo has been arrested.

Asaram Bapu is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, a native of Shahjahanpur, in his ashram in Jodhpur in August last year.

Giving details, police said on Saturday, the minor girl's brother was sitting in his shop which is outside their home in Azeezganj locality under Kotwali police station in Shahjahanpur when the godman's two supporters walked in at around 3:30pm.

The two accused, Narayan Pandey (29) and Pradeep Mishra (30), then pressurized him to work out a settlement in the case and threatened to kill his family if they failed to do so, the girl's brother told police.

 Neighbours noticed that Pandey and Mishra were hanging around the shop for an inordinate period of time. As their activities created suspicion, they informed the police.

After receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested the duo from outside the shop.

Later, the girl's brother also lodged an FIR against the two men.

Police have registered a case against them under sections 506 and 151 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for giving threats to the family and disturbing peace.
