Thrissur: A security guard from Kerala's northern city of Thrissur almost paid with his life for being late in opening the gate of a Businessman's apartment complex in Thrissur

The guard was rammed by a Hummer driven by an infuriated beedi tycoon even though he tried to escape and climbed on the top of the fountain but to no avail.

Mohammed Nisham is the managing director of Tirunelveli-based King Beedi Co, who was behind the wheels. He is being kept in judicial custody for two weeks whereas Chandrabose, the poor security guard is on a ventilator.

On Thursday, Chandra Bose, in charge of the vehicle movement was on night duty inside his cabin; two other security guards were manning the gate.

Police officials said, “Nisham lost his cool when the guards started verifying the vehicle and its occupant before lifting the bar. He jumped out of the SUV and started manhandling the staff. Then, he rushed to the cabin, smashed the glass panes and attacked Chandrabose.”

“Chandrabose climbed on top of the fountain in front of the gate in order to escape him but Nisham reversed the Hummer and rammed it into the fountain. The huge vehicle reared up to hit the top of the fountain and crush the man against the wall,” sources said.

His left arm and chest were crushed between the Hummer and the granite wall of the fountain. Nisham then lifted Chandrabose and dumped him in the back of the Hummer.

“He called his wife from their apartment almost half a km away from the gate, and asked her to come over with a gun,” added police sources.

“She arrived in a Jaguar but without a gun. Then Nisham drove the Hummer into the parking area of his apartment complex, pulled out Chandrabose and started attacking him again, for nearly 30 minutes. He finally left after abandoning Chandrabose under the Hummer.''

By this time, a police patrol team, alerted by other security staff, reached the spot. “Nisham was violent and even threatened to attack us. We got more policemen from a station nearby and took him into custody,” the sources said.
Thrissur police commissioner Jacob Job said Nisham already has 10 criminal cases against him, which includes allowing his minor son to drive a Ferrari and attacking a woman police constable on duty. One of those cases is of domestic violence filed by Nisham's wife, and another by his brother's wife alleging that he tried to insult her in a mobile
