New Delhi: A man has sustained serious injuries in Bihar after a group of people chopped off his fingers and poured acid in his eyes over a minor dispute.

The incident took place Thursday night in Samastipur district.

Vikas Kumar Yadav was attacked by six people, who have criminal background, after an altercation at Vanbhaur village under Bithan police station.

Yadav, in his early 20s, was admitted to a state-run hospital.

The doctors at the hospital said one eye was completely punctured with a pointed object and another eye was 90 per cent damaged.

Warisnagar police station in-charge Rajnish Kumar said police had lodged a case against three unidentified persons on the basis of the victim's gestures. Police suspected old enmity could be the reason behind the attack.

“As long as the man is not identified, it is difficult to get any leads,” said the police officer, dismissing it as a case of any mob justice.
