New Delhi: A 50 year old woman was found murdered in her house Juhi Hari colony in Kanpur yesterday.

The victim, Champa Devi, was choked to death with the help of a pillow.

Champa Devi, who worked as a senior clerk at UPSRTC office in the city was staying alone in her house. Her husband had expired 20 years ago, while her son is working in Delhi.

Her body was discovered by the neighbors at around 9:30am after Champa Devi didn't open the door after repeated knocks.

The neighbors entered the house from the roof top and found the victim's body in the bedroom.

According to the police, the entire house was found ransacked.

While the victim was asphyxiated with a pillow, the victim bore scratch marks on her head with her face indicating that she tried hard to resist.

While the police has sent the body for post mortem, they are probing the possibility of robbery.

Since Champa Devi was the only occupant of the house, there is no one to claim what has gone missing from the house.

However, police is also investigating the matter from the angle of personal enmity.
