Ludhiana: A rape complainant was allegedly set on fire by six people in Dhandari Khurd area of Ludhiana on Thursday. The 17-year-old girl who was rushed to a hospital is critical, the police said.

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Pramod Ban said two people have been arrested while others are absconding.

The girl had lodged a rape complaint against three of them two months ago, after which they were arrested. However, last week they were released on bail, Mr Ban said.

Six people including the three rape accused, reached the girl's residence and allegedly set her on fire after pouring kerosene on her, he added.

"The accused, all from Bihar, have been identified. Two of them, identified as Sahjad and Anwar, have been arrested while the search for the rest is on," a police official said.
