Muzaffarnagar (UP): A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in a sugarcane field when she went to answer nature's call, police said today.  

The incident took place yesterday when the victim had gone to work with her father at a brick kiln at Kethwari village.

When the girl went to relieve herself, she was dragged to a nearby sugarcane field by a youth and allegedly raped.  

On hearing the victim's cries for help, locals rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused who is said to be in his early 20s.

The accused, identified as Vishal, was then handed over to the police.

On the complaint of the girl's father, police have lodged an FIR against the accused in this connection.
