Baghpat: A 35-year-old trader was shot dead today by two of the bike-borne assailants here in Bamnauli village this morning, police said.

The incident took place when Jitendra alias Bhura was about to open his general merchant shop located just in front of his house when the armed assailants arrived and opened fire at him, said the Station Incharge of Doghat Police Station, Omvir Singh.

The victim was then immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. According to the station incharge Omvir Singh, a case has been registered against the accused and the investigations were on.
