Two Mumbai Jewellers Robbed, Murdered In Broad Daylight

Mumbai, Apr 11: Four robbers armed with knives and swords murdered two jewellers in broad daylight in Malad West here today and fled in an auto after looting several lakhs of rupees worth ornaments, eyewitnesses said.

The robbery-cum-murder took place at around 5:30 pm near the foot overbridge of Malad suburban railway station.

The jewellers Paras Parmar and his manager Hemant Chaudhary were trying to board the foot overbridge for going from Malad East to West, when four miscreants attacked them with knives and swords.

The two were carrying several lakhs of rupees worth jewellery in a bag, which the assailants snatched.

As the two  victims fell on the pavement in blood, the  four assailants fled on the overbridge towards Malad West, despite the presence of a large number of  evening rushtime commuters.

They then stopped an auto driver, brandished their arms, and moved out of Malad. They abandoned the auto midway and fled carrying the looted jewellery.

Both Parmar and Chaudhary were taken to Ashoka Hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

The jeweller Paras Parmar had brought jewellery from Zaveri Bazar and was going to Malad to  hand them over to some jewellers in Malad.

Additional commissioner of Police Ramrao Pawar said, it appeared to be an insider's  job as the assailants seemed to have prior knowledge about the movement of the jewellers.
