Gurgaon, May 11: The cctv footage of four criminals hunting out and shooting dead a Kurukshetra University student leader seven months ago helped in Gurgaon police nabbing the main killer Ashok alias Shaukeen alongwith his accomplice Naresh on Thursday.

Haryana Police had announced Rs 50,000 cash reward for the arrest of Ashok. A 9 mm pistol, a .32 bore pistol and 12 live cartridges were seized from both of them.

On October 17, 2011 at around 5:27 pm, three youths came and stood below a tree in the Kurukshetra University campus.  A student wearing black T-shirt and jeans  walked nearby.

Suddenly two of the youths whipped out their pistols and fired at the student leader Virendra.

Virendra ran, but the assailants followed him and shot at  him again. As he fell on the ground, another assailant came forward and shot  at him point blank. One of the assailants kicked his body.

Footage from another cctv camera shows, two assailants escaping on a motorbike, and the third calmly walking away at a brisk pace. The fourth melt into the crowd.

These cctv footages helped the police to identify the killers, and two of them were nabbed on Thursday after a seven-month-long hunt.
