Bhopal, Nov 11: A five-member gang of ATM breakers was nabbed by Bhopal police on Thursday.
The gang leader was an engineer from Chhapra, Bihar and the gang had a bodybuilder named Vishwajit and tool mechanics as members.
The modus operandi of the gang was first to enter a deserted ATM kiosk, disable the cameras and then break down the ATM with hammers, drilling machine and screwdrivers to take out the cash. All this was done using gloves.
The mastermind of the gang Anoop, an engineer, used to leave for Bihar after every such burglary. This time, as he returned after Delhi, the Bhopal police was lying in wait.
SSP Bhopal Vijay Yadav said, the gang had carried out ATM breaking operations on ICICI, Canara Bank, Vijaya Bank and PNB ATMs.
A car, four motorbikes and Rs 4.15 lakh cash were recovered from them, Yadav said.
