New Delhi: Samsung has launched its flagship smartphones - Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in India at an event in Delhi. Both these smartphones were announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month and here are all the details on Samsung's newest smartphones.

The Galaxy S7 32GB is priced at Rs 48,900, while the Galaxy S7 edge 32GB variant is priced at Rs 56,900. Pre-bookings for both smartphones start today and will go on till March 17. Customers who pre-book the smartphones will get a free Gear VR headset. 

Design: Samsung went for a completely changed the design and has moved away from plastic body to metal frame along with front and back glass design. For the latest Flagship Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge the company has carried the same design with a few improvements, which includes slightly more curved glass.

Samsung also has IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. One of the highlights of both flagships is the new ‘Always On' display, which will let you take a look at the notifications, calendar alerts and time without unlocking the screen.

Camera: Samsung has come with a 12-megapixel rear camera for the both the handsets. They come with dual-pixel auto-focus, PDAF and optical image stabilization. Even though Samsung has reduced the resolution from 16-megapixel to 12-megapixel compared to the previous flagship, it features larger 1.4µm pixels instead of 1.12µm pixels.

Storage: Samsung has come with Exynos 8890 octa-core chipset variants, paired with 4GB of RAM. Also the microSD card slot for further expansion is present in the form of a hybrid SIM card slot. This will let you to use the smartphones either as a dual-SIM phone or a single SIM card with a microSD card slot. Both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come in 32GB internal storage.

Battery: Samsung has added slightly larger batteries on both the smartphones. The Galaxy S7 comes with 3,000mAh and Galaxy S7 edge comes with 3,600mAh battery. Both the phone misses the latest Quick Charge 3.0, Quick Charge 2.0 and Wireless Fast Charging feature.

Specification: Galaxy S7 has a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and the edge variant has a slightly larger 5.5-inch QHD dual-edge curved display.

The Galaxy S7 has been launched with two processors: One is a 64-bit octa-core processor (2.3GHz Quad + 1.6GHz Quad) and the second a 64-bit quad-core processor (2.15GHz Dual + 1.6GHz Dual).

Both the devices run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI running atop. Samsung has added more apps and features on the Galaxy S7 edge to take full advantage of curved Edge display.

In terms of connectivity the smartphones have dual-SIM card slots (hybrid support), NFC, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS.
