New Delhi: Samsung has launched its new Alpha smartphone in India at Rs 39,990. The device will be available in the first week of October.
Galaxy Alpha features a rectangular, grooved metal design which reminds us of the iPhone. Instead of cheap plastic, the Alpha comes with a real metal frame. The phone is also one of the slimmest Galaxy devices ever with 6.7mm thickness. It is very lightweight at 115gram.
At just 6.7mm thin the Galaxy Alpha beats both the Samsung Galaxy S5 (8.1mm) and iPhone 5S (7.6mm) with room to spare.
In terms of button allocation, it's the same as the Galaxy S5, with the lozenge shaped home button centred on the bottom of the device, flanked by the tab and back hotkeys.
The device comes with a 4.7-inch HD super AMOLED (720x1280p) screen and is powered by an octa-core processor (1.8GHz Ư.3GHz) with 2GB RAM the Android Kitkat.
The handset offers 32GB of internal storage but doesn't feature a microSD card slot.
The device has a 12 MP rear camera along with a 2.1 MP front camera for taking ‘selfies'.
The handset is fueled by a 1860 mAh battery. The phone will also come with the fingerprint scanner.
Samsung claims the new display saves about 10 per cent of battery while the octave core professorship helps save on power consumption. The Alpha too comes with Ultra Power Saving.
The smartphone also has a heart rate monitor and syncs with Gear range of devices. It also has 4G LTE capability and Airtel Will give 5GB of LTE data and 2GB or 3G/2G free for two months.
The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue colour options.
