New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its new C-segment sedan competitor, the Ciaz, in India today. The company had already started bookings of the new mid-size premium sedan.

The new sedan has a length of 4,545 mm and replaces the SX4. The car offers a better rear seat experience than its predecessor.

Maruti is touting it as the most feature rich car in its category and also the most fuel efficient vehicle in the country with a tag of 26.3km/l (diesel) beating its closest rival Honda City.

Available with both petrol and diesel engines, the Ciaz will be available with a choice of 2 transmission options (5-speed MT and an optional 4-speed AT for petrol). The petrol variants will be powered by 1.4-litre K10B, four-cylinder of 92 bhp and a peak torque of 130 Nm.

The diesel version will be powered by the 1.3-litre, Fiat sourced Multijet, four-cylinder engine, same as the one in the Ertiga, with maximum power of 89 BHP and peak torque of 200 Nm. For these variants, transmission options include only a 5-speed MT.

In designing Ciaz, Maruti has paid a lot of attention in making the car standing out from the competition.

On the outside, the highlights include elegant chrome grille, projector headlamps, rear combination lamps, 16-inch multi spoke alloys wheels and aerodynamically designed body. On the inside, the car offers features like 7-inch touchscreen ‘SmartPlay' infotainment system, leather upholstery, fully automatic AC with rear AC vents, and rear reading lamps.

The use of Suzuki Total Effective Technology (STECT) and presence of security features like Dual Airbags, seat belt pretensioners and force limiters make this vehicle a safe one.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited had sold a total of 109,742 units in September 2014. This includes 99,290 units in domestic market and 10,452 units in exports.

Overall, Ciaz appears to be a good package in terms of smart styling, spacious interiors, generous levels of equipment, good drivability.
