New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is all set to launch the world's cheapest automatic car early next month. In a first, the 1000cc engined K10 will come with an auto gear shift variant similar to the Celerio and will be the most affordable automatic car available.

According to MSIL the new Alto K10 will deliver a fuel efficiency of 24.07 km per litre (both manual and automatic) which is over 15 per cent more than that delivered by the outgoing car and 20 per cent more than its closest competitor — Hyundai Eon 1.0L Kappa (20.3 kmpl).

MSIL says the new Alto K10 will deliver a power of 68 PS at 6000 RPM as against 68PS at 6200 RPM of the outgoing K10.

Looks-wise, the new Alto K10 takes cues from its sibling Alto 800. The updated model will get a chrome front grille, revised head and tail lights, re-designed bumpers, 13 inch wheels and a few more changes. On the inside, it has a new dashboard with its dual-tone black-and-beige theme and a piano black center console certainly looks smarter.

The drive quality of the new model remains smooth with ease of transition from automatic to manual mode and vice-versa.

The automatic variant of Alto K10 is learnt to be priced at sub-Rs 4 lakh, reasonably below the Celerio AMT.
