New Delhi: Suzuki has priced its upcoming motorcycle Gixxer at Rs. 79,809 (on-road price New Delhi). The automaker has started taking pre-orders for the bike.


Suzuki Gixxer attracted lots of attention when it was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, India's biggest automobile extravaganza, which was held in Greater Noida during the month of February. The bike earned good reviews from critics and visitors.

The Gixxer, a 155cc bike, will be a more affordable motorcycle and compete against the likes of Yamaha FZ FI V2.0, TVS Apache RTR, Honda CB Trigger, Hero Xtreme and Bajaj Pulsar 150.

The Gixxer features a 155cc, single cylinder, SOHC air-cooled engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 13.7bhp and 14Nm of torque. Transmitting power to the rear wheel of the bike is a 5-speed gearbox.


 



At the front, Suzuki Gixxer is fitted with telescopic forks, and the rear end features a single-shock suspension with an aluminium swing arm. The bike gets additional stability through the use of wide tubeless tyres, something that experts feel with ensure better performance. It has a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Other highlights of this bike include its special Y shape three spoke alloys along with a fully digital instrument cluster.


 



Its dimensions include 2050mm length, 785mm weidth and 1030mm height. While the wheelbase is 133mm, the height and ground clearance are 780mm 160mm, respectively. Kerb weight of the motorcycle stands at 135 kg and it has been fitted with a fuel tank having capacity of 12 litres.
 



The front tyre measures around 100/80-17 and on the rear side measures 140/60R-17. Among the feature list the new bike gets a fully digital dashboard and the segment first dual exhaust.

Reports say Suzuki Gixxer has been designed by the engineering team that was behind the GSX-R series from the Japanese car maker.
