New Delhi: The competition gripping the Indian smartphone market is getting intense as launch cycles from established handset makers are getting shorter and lots of companies are trying to launch more specs-rich and affordable handsets to stay ahead.

The action has been unabated and will remain so in the coming festive period. The recent trend is of launching Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphones in the affordable budget category. Recently, Samsung launched its Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphone in India, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus. The device features a 4.3-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) TFT display and is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core (unspecified chipset) processor coupled with 512MB of RAM. It sports a 3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while there is no front facing camera onboard. The 4GB of inbuilt storage on Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus can be expanded further up to 32GB (via microSD card).

Similarly, Micromax has also come out with a new Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone, the Canvas L, in India. The Micromax Canvas L (A108) is a dual-SIM device (GSM+GSM) that runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. It joins the other KitKat-based Micromax phones - Micromax Bolt A069, Micromax Canvas Entice, Micromax Canvas Fire (A093), Micromax Canvas Fire (A104), Micromax Canvas Engage, Micromax Unite 2 and Micromax Canvas Gold.

Given the range of choices available in the market, Indian consumers are switching from a feature phone to a smartphone in droves. Certainly good news for handset makers who are offering their best while keeping a check on the price point! Here in this article we are offering some good offerings under Rs 15,000 price range:
