Bangalore, Nov 20: IT bellwether Infosys has developed an enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solution that enables its Japanese clients set up their IT infrastructure in India in eight weeks.

"The pre-packaged solution is tailor-made for the Indian market as it addresses issues such as local taxation and accounting," the company said in a statement here Monday.

Based on the industry-standard Microsoft platform for ERP functions, the 'India in a Box' solution supports the international accounting standards committee and complies with Indian GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), facilitates supply chain management, monitor production, planning, processing and scheduling and keeps track of employees and customers.

"The all-in-one business solution has been customised for Japanese firms looking to grow their business in the complex Indian marketplace," the statement noted.

According to the company's Japan operations head V. Sriram, the product will enable executives in Tokyo to manage sales and production of their Indian operations on a daily basis without a hitch.

"The software solution improves real time decision-making and governance," Sriram asserted.

The global software major has set up its Japan operations in 1997 with development centres in Tokyo and Nagoya.
