New Delhi: Hyundai India is planning to launch Elite i20 based crossover in India early next year. The new car will compete against the likes of Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and the Fiat Avventura.
The Elite i20 Crossover has already been spotted on tests in the outskirts of Chennai.
The launch of this crossover will be followed by the introduction of Hyundai ix25 compact SUV.
To enhance the appeal of the new model, the hatchback-based crossover will come with front and rear skid guards, side body cladding and roof rails. It will also feature projector headlamps, petal-shaped alloy wheels and LED daytime running lamps. The company has also raised the ground clearance to help it tackle Indian road conditions better than the hatchback.
The car will share its engine lineup with the hatchback model. The petrol model would get the 1.2-litre unit, while the oil burner is the 1.4-litre U2 CRDi unit.
