New Delhi: Fiat India has launched its new entry-level sedan car, Fiat Linea Classic, in India at the starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Linea Classic is available in both petrol and diesel engine options in the form of the 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. Three variants of the new model are available at Rs 5.99 lakh, 1.3 L Multi-Jet Classic at Rs 6.96 lakh and 1.3 L Multi-jet Classic+ at Rs 7.51 lakh.
Fiat claims the Classic sedan has the longest length and largest wheelbase among the specific price segment. In total there are five color options.
The regular Linea's diesel engine sports a Variable Geometry Turbo, which makes the engine belt out a higher power output of 90bhp. The 1.4 litre petrol engine remains unchanged and has a max power of 889hp. Both the motors have been mated to 5 speed manual gearbox.
On the outside, the Linea Classic loses out on alloy wheels, fog lamps, electronically controlled mirrors as well as chrome door handles and chrome inserts on the front grille.
It does however get a Classic badge at the back. On the inside it has hydraulic power steering, all black steering like the Punto, manual AC controls and power windows only for the front windows. To keep the costs down, the company has also removed the Blue & Me system as well as the steering mounted audio controls.
The Fiat Linea Classic in its price range competes with the Honda Amaze, Chevrolet Sail, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, and Mahindra Verito. However, it should have an upper hand over its rivals thanks to its spacious interiors and quite decent features.
