New Delhi: Nokia has officially unveiled its next generation Android-based smartphone, the Nokia X2. The Nokia X2 will be available at EUR 99 (roughly Rs. 8,100) without taxes and subsidies.

But what has changed? The new smartphone comes with a 4.3-in 480x800 Clearblack display – a circular polarizer that sits between the GorillaGlass and LCD/AMOLED screen, resulting in glare-elimination, higher contrast and better readability due to the elimination of reflected light. The screen results in a pixel density of 217ppi.

The device is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor along with 1GB RAM. While the last generation's Nokia X+ and Nokia XL had just 768MB of RAM, while the Nokia X had 512MB of RAM.

Design-wise, the X2 comes with a glossy shell with a translucent outer layer, just like the Lumia 620. The X2 now has a new home button that takes you back to the start screen and is accompanied by the back button allowing users to flip through most recent actions.

The company hasn't revealed the exact version of the Nokia X software platform, though Engadget notes the Nokia X2 runs Nokia X Software Platform 2.0.

The new Nokia X2 is a dual-SIM variant and does not come with a single SIM version. The device sports a 5-megapixel autofocus rear camera with flash and also has a front-facing camera (unspecified resolution).

Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

The smartphone comes preloaded with Skype, HERE Maps, MixRadio, Outlook.com and OneDrive apps complete with 15GB cloud storage space. Games include SnapAttack, Wordament and Kinectimals. The X2 also has OneNote, LINE, WeChat, Path, Facebook and Facebook Messenger. It can run Android apps which can be downloaded through the Nokia Store and other third party app stores.

Nokia has also updated its custom Android launcher, which now offers the option to see most used apps and updated Fastlane.

The device gets its juice from a an upgraded 1800mAh battery.

The Nokia X2 is likely to cost under Rs 10,000 in India and is available now in glossy green, orange black, yellow and white.
