New Delhi: India's second largest car maker Hyundai Motor India Ltd has launched a new version of i20 called, the Elite i20, at Rs 4.89 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The prices of the variants go up to Rs 7.66 lakh.
Based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 philosophy, the second generation i20, comes in both petrol (1.2-Litre) and diesel (1.4-Litre). While the petrol version costs between Rs 4,89,900 and Rs. 6,46,900, the diesel variant is priced between Rs. 6,09,900 and Rs. 7,66,900.
The car is powered by a 1.2 VTVT Kappa and a 2nd generation 1.4 CRDi engine. The petrol variant comes with a 5 speed transmission while the diesel is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission.
The petrol produces 83PS of power and 11.7 kg.m of torque while the diesel mill churns out 90 PS of power and 22.4 kg.m of torque. The diesel gives a fuel economy of 22.54 kmpl and petrol 18.60 kmpl in its Era and Magna variants. Sports and Asta give a mileage of 21.7 kmpl in diesel and 18.24 kmpl in petrol (ARAI figures) respectively.
The Elite i20 comes with refined and premium styling that is clearly visible with its front, side and back profile. The front fascia has masculine and bold large hexagonal front grill with elongated swept back head lamps. The car also gets wide and distinctive trapezoidal fog lamps, sporty black C pillar block and wide 3 step wrap around tail lamps.
On the inside, the new model offers a black and beige toned dash and seats, sporty multi-functional steering wheel with audio and bluetooth controls, start stop button, rear AC vents, integrated 2 Din audio with USB and Aux-in and 1 GB internal memory and automatic temperature control. With a longer wheelbase, the Elite i20 will be more spacious than the current i20. It also gets dual airbags, ABS, impact sensing door unlock and reverse parking camera.
