New Delhi: Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India is all set to unveil its all new Honda Activa 125 scooter at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
The new Honda Activa 125 will be powered by a 125 cc four-stroke, force air-cooled, single-pot motor, with variator-controlled automatic transmission.
Reports suggest that the company has reworked the model's suspension and frame to accommodate the bigger motor. Bigger displacement means the scooter will deliver more power, and thus ensure better acceleration. Though it may mean a marginal drop in mileage.
At present, automatic scooter buyers have limited choices for scooters with a 125 cc mill. These include the Access and Swish from Suzuki, Vespa from Piaggio, and the Duro and Rodeo from Mahindra. Bajaj Auto is also likely to launch a new 125 cc scooter this year.
Honda Activa, when introduced in 1999, became a rage among city commuters as it offered the comfort of gearless riding along with the low cost of maintenance. Now, the company is planning to take it further by introducing a bigger engine. It is expected that the new variant of the Activa will be launched during the festive season of Diwali-Dusshera.
