New Delhi: Porsche India has launched an updated Cayenne at a starting price of Rs 1.02 crore (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
The new Cayenne is available in four variants including two diesel – Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne Diesel S, one standard petrol Cayenne S and the top of the line Cayenne Turbo.
Porsche says it will also launch other variants like the Cayenne GTS and the top of the flagship Cayenne Turbo S.
There is no doubt that with its true sports car handling and refined interiors, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne is a class all of its own. The front-fascia of the new car offers large grille and a redesigned bumper which gives it an ultra-aggressive stance. Just by looking at it you can tell that the new Cayenne is a serious performer.
The revised car gets a more streamlined nose with new wings, bonnet and bumper air inlets, exhaust pipes and inlets. The main design lines now run outwards instead of towards the middle, giving the revised model a wider look. The Diesel, S and S- E-Hybrid variants have received Bi-xenon headlights with four-point LED Daytime running lamps as standard. However, the Turbo Model gets LED Headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS).
The facelifted version features new taillights with the distinctive four LED brake light pattern seen on other recent Porsche models. The exhaust outlets have also been redesigned. Powered tailgate, tyre pressure monitor and soft closing doors are also offered in the new version.
Other features include Porsche entry and drive, PASM, panoramic sunroof and four-zone auto climate control. Some of the optional equipment for the new Cayenne consists of surround camera, Sport Chrono package and soft-close doors.
The inside of 2015 Porsche Cayenne looks nearly the same as the outgoing model except for the 918-inspired three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters. Optional extras include rear seat ventilation, surround camera and a Sports Chrono package for a performance boost.
The new models now offer better power and torque figures. Porsche says all models benefit from updated gearbox control software aimed at improved shift times and smoothness, while engine ECUs have been optimised for improved power, torque, fuel economy and emissions.
The 3.0-litre V6 diesel makes 245PS of power and 550Nm of torque. The Cayenne can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 218kmph.
The bigger 4.2-litre V8 motor in the Cayenne S produces 385PS and 850Nm of torque. The 0-100kmph sprint takes a claimed 5.4 seconds with the top speed rated at 252kmph.
The range topping Porsche Cayenne Turbo is still powered by a 4.8-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that delivers 527PS @ 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 750Nm @ 2,250 – 4,000 rpm. It can attain accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds from standstill with a top speed of 279 km/h.
