New Delhi: German car maker BMW has launched Mini Cooper S 3-door luxury hatchback in India, priced at Rs 34.65 lakh (ex-showroom).

The company says the petrol powered Cooper S is targeted towards serious Mini enthusiasts while the diesel is focused towards a buyer new to the brand.

Although little has changed from the outside, there are significant changes under the hood. To be sold just in the 3-Door form, the Mini Cooper S is the most powerful amongst its product line-up. The new 2015 Mini Cooper is powered by a four-cylinder twin-turbo 2.0-litre petrol engine which makes 192PS and 280Nm and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Mini says that this engine was built from scratch for the Cooper S. The car can sprint from 0-100 kmph run in just 6.7s with a top speed of 233kmph.

The ARAI certified fuel economy of the Cooper S is 15.7 km/l.

Mini introduced the all-new Cooper in India in November 2014. Although it was earlier available only in diesel variant, Mini can now be purchased in both the petrol and diesel versions. Mini Cooper has received admiration from its users for its go-kart like handling and dynamics.

The front fascia of the car now comes with an aggressive grille with a honeycomb upper section and a single chrome bar with a distinguishing ‘S' badge as opposed to the diesel variant's three-bar grille. It also has 10-spoke alloy wheels.

The inside of the car also remains the same as the diesel variant.

The standard safety equipment in the new Cooper S includes front and passenger include airbags, 3-point seat belts, dynamic stability control, crash sensor, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and run-flat indicator.

The new Mini Cooper S is available in a total of 11 exterior shades- Pepper White and Volcano Orange as non-metallic paintwork while Grey, Blazing Red, Lapisluxury Blue, British Racing Green, Iced Chocolate, Thunder Grey, Deep Blue, White Silver and Midnight Black are offered in metallic finish.

The car comes through the (completely built-up unit) route.
