New Delhi: Google's popular mobile operating system, Android, is about to get an upgrade and Google purportedly does not know what to name it.
So, Google, the tech giant of giants is asking people for suggesting names for the next version of Android. During its I/O conference held last month, the tech giant invited users to help name the latest version. Android, from the third release in 2009, has followed an alphabetic order starting from K- Kitkat, L- Lollipop, M- Marshmallow. Now, it is the turn of the letter N.
What’s interesting is that Google wants users like you and me to be part of the naming exercise. You can also take part in the ‘name suggestions’ window that will close on June 9 at 12:29 p.m. Log on to https://www.android.com/intl/en_in/versions/name-n/ to vote for your favourite dessert, beginning with N.
A name that will be suggested by users, with the most number of votes, will be selected as Android N. Although Google can choose any other name if it wants. Initially, Indians started suggesting everything from Bengal's 'narkol naru' to Maharashtra's favourite 'Nankhatai', but ‘Neyappam’ from Kerala won the race.

Kerala tourism has started a new campaign for the next Android version and Neyappam has taken the lead and earned a place on the Android webpage. For those unaware of what Neyyappam is, it’s a deep fried snack made from rice flour, jaggery and ghee.
