Pre-orders for the Moto Z2 Play will begin 12 PM IST on Thursday. You can catch the live event here.
The Moto Z2 Play runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor paired with either of the two options - 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage. There is support for expandable storage with a microSD card slot for further expansion of storage (up to 2TB).
In the optics department, the Moto Z2 Play sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with a 1.4-micron pixel sensor, an aperture of f/1.7, a colour correlated temperature (CCT) dual-LED flash, as well as laser and dual autofocus lens (laser autofocus with expanded range up to 5 metres and 3 million dual autofocus pixels), At the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture, wide-angle lens, and a dual-LED CCT flash.
The signature thin body of the Z series has made a comeback with the Moto Z2 Play being slashed a 1.1 millimeter on its body on account of complains by users of a “brick-like” feeling with the predecessor Z Play. It is also lighter than its predecessor with the Moto Z2 Play weighing 145 grams versus 165 grams of the Moto Z Play. The Hasselblad true zoom and Insta-share projector are the two Moto Mods which are expected to be launched in India at discounted prices. Others are the JBL Soundboost 2, Moto TurboPower Pack, Moto Style Shells with Wireless Charging and the Moto Gamepad.
The phone is expected to be launched in the range of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 range, given that its launch in US last week priced it at $499. According to Motorola India, the phone will come with some attractive offers. The Hello finance offer provides options for Rs 2,000 down payment, followed by 10-month interest-free EMIs.
