Prior to its official introduction at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Hyundai today unwrapped the third-generation i30 hatchback, which will be the first ever high performance model launched under its ’N’ performance sub-brand.

Scheduled to hit the European showrooms by early 2017, the new i30 boasts of all the latest design elements that one may find in latest Hyundai models.

Featuring Hyundai’s new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, the front has the same cascading grille as the second-generation i10 (Grand i10).

Moreover, the headlight comes with all-LED lighting for both high and low beam and boasts of fog lamps, three-projector setup and vertically placed daytime running LEDs (DRLs).

The all-new hatch also offers an array of alloy wheel options – 15, 16 and 17 inches.

Talking about the interiors, the i30’s dashboard possesses a symmetric layout, along with a five/eight inch touch-screen infotainment system.

Apart from a massive boot space (back of the rear seat) of 395 litres, i30 also offers adjustable driver’s seat with memory settings, Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto and inductive wireless charging for smartphones.

Other than style and comfort, Hyundai has also taken care of customer’s safety as the new hatchback comes with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Detector (BSD), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), High Beam Assist (HBA) and seven airbags including a knee airbag.

Coming to the engine, the new i30 is expected to be propelled by a powerful 1.4-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol motor, which can churn out 140PS of top power and 242Nm of max torque, a Times of India report said.

Moreover, the engine is likely to be paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic) transmission, it added.

However, it is also expected that Hyundai i30 hatch might come with other engine options like 1.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre T-GDi three -cylinder turbo petrol and the bigger 1.6-litre CRDi diesel.

If the third-generation hatchback is launched in India, it is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 14 to 16 lakh.
