New Delhi: There is some hope for the B-school graduates who saw their hiring being deferred by six months by India’s largest e-commerce firm Flipkart. E-commerce giants like Amazon and Paytm are among top companies that are keen on hiring the graduates who were offered jobs by Flipkart.

As per reports, Amazon is “very much open to hiring these guys”.

“From our side, we are honouring all the offers we made, onboarding people as per plan and are happy to look at these CVs. These are all campuses we have relationships with,” Amazon India’s HR head Raj Raghavan was quoted as saying by the Economic Times.

The students who got offers from Flipkart are looking for other options as most don't want to wait until December. During the last campus placement season, Flipkart had made offers to 45 students at 4 IIMs -- Ahmedabad (18), Bangalore (11), Calcutta (9) and Indore (7). But recently, the company deferred the joining dates of recruits by six months.

The Bengaluru-based company said that these delays were made as Flipkart is currently undergoing a few structural changes. On its part, the company also said that it is in mood of shortening the deferment period.

“We are undergoing restructuring that will further consolidate our leadership in the e-commerce industry in India. Consequently, it becomes important to redesign the campus programme to align it with our new business focus. Completing our restructuring process and consequent redesign of our campus program in our best assessment will take the next couple of quarters and hence the revision of joining date to December is the earliest possible,” the company said in a statement.

Sapna Agarwal, head of career development services at IIM (Bangalore) said that ‘all students who had offers from Flipkart want to consider alternative jobs’. “Right now, they are our primary concern,” Agarwal told the daily.

Besides Amazon, Paytm and other companies such as fashion marketplace app Voonik have been in touch with top business schools, the report said.

Paytm head HR, Amit Sinha, said that the company is in position to hire 40-50 people who can join the firm by beginning of August. This figure is addition to the already hired 50 students. This year, the Noida based company has hired in two batches of 25 students. And most of its campus hires from IIM, XLRI and Indian School of Business have joined the firm.

“We the opportunity to review the candidates who may have received deferred joining dates and are keen to join the company,” Sinha said.

Sujayath Ali, cofounder and CEO at Voonik too said that they are approaching students.

“We have told them that while it's okay if they want to wait for Flipkart, we have openings as well. A few have already expressed interest in our offers," he said.

Meanwhile, InMobi, a leader in mobile advertising, has also deferred the joining date from July to November 2016.

This is the first time in the last five years that a company has deferred the joining date at the IIMs. Flipkart has also made it clear that it will not increase the additional joining bonus of Rs 1.5 lakh and that it will pay to student upon joining in December.

On its part, the IIM-Ahmedabad has taken strong exception to the move by Flipkart, saying that its students felt cheated and were regretting their decision to have opted for joining the e-commerce company.
