Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has given sops to the Banking sector, the real estate sector, mild sops to individual taxpayers and allocated much of the money for social and infrastructure sectors. But, in the process, he has hiked duties on petrol, diesel, kerosene and other petro products. The Opposition has strongly protested hike in petro prices and has decided to start movement against this decision. The opposition leaders say that hike in petro prices will cause inflationary effect on the economy, already groanding under hike in edible product prices.
