Jaipur: Around 374 people from Rajasthan were stranded in flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir but there were no reports of any casualty with them, a government official said here today.

Based on the calls received at the helpline, set up by Rajasthan government, there were reports of 374 people from various part of the state being stranded in J&K, a top State Disaster Management official told PTI.

These people are from Jaipur, Bhilwara, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Kota, Ajmer, Karauli, Jodhpur, Dholpur, Bikaner and Srigangangar, most of them had gone there as tourist.

However, there were no reports of any casualty to people from Rajasthan due to floods in that state, he added.

The official said relatives of those stranded in the state were concerned about the safety of their family members as there was no communication between them for the last couple of days.

“But about 200 people from Dausa, Bhilwara and Bandikui were successful in contacting their home this afternoon.

They should not panic now,” he said, adding that we believe these 200 people would return soon safely.

The Rajasthan government, he said, if needed would approach the Centre or the J&K Government to provide relief in terms of goods or cash to the people.

He expressed hope that the situation would improve as there were reports of water receding there “and people would return to their homes soon”.
